Applications for volunteer positions during the 2011–2012 season will be available at the BLOMHA office or can be downloaded below.
Applications can be submitted to the office in person or by mail, preferably before June 30, 2011.
Applications will only be considered if you have the accreditation requirements as stated on the application, and there is proof of your accreditations on file. If any of your certifications are not listed with the Alliance you will be required to provide copies to the BLOMHA office.
A current Vulnerable Sector Screening Police Clearance (VSSPC) is required for all positions. A VSSPC is valid for two seasons. If you have a Police Clearance dated 2009 or older, it will need updating for the 2011-12 season. Please contact a police station within Halton to apply for your VSSPC.
The House League Committee (HLC) receives all Convenor applications for review and subsequently appoints a Convenor for appropriate divisions.
All Convenors must have, at a minimum, a current Vulnerable Sector Screening Police Clearance (VSSPC) and Respect in Sport (Speak Out) certification.
Responsible for the administering of the Consitution & By-Laws of BLOMHA
Review game and practice schedules for equity
Liaison between coaches, and approprite division board director
Arena visits to monitor coaches

All Head Coaches must have the following certification, at a minimum, and provide valid and proper documentation to apply for a coaching position. *There are different requirements of Development 4/5 head coaches. National Coaching Certification levels defined.
House League: NCCP Level Coaching or Coach Stream certification
Rep: NCCP Level Coaching or Development Stream 1 certification
Respect in Sport (Speak Out) certification. Online course is available
Current Vulnerable Sector Screening Police Clearance (VSSPC)
Must be at least 18 years of age
All Head Coaches in the 4/5 Development Program are required to take the coaching clinic run by BLOMHA, take the Respect in Sport (Speak Out) certification and have a current Vulnerable Sector Screening Police Clearance (VSSPC).
Be familiar with BLOMHA's, ALLIANCE Hockey's and the Ontario Hockey Federation's Constitutions and By-Laws and Policies, as the Head Coach is ultimately accountable for all team activities and team officials.
Handing in of team paperwork in accordance to dates as set out by BLOMHA.
Attendance at all Head Coaches' meetings.

BLOMHA periodically holds clinics at the office for the training required by Head Coaches. If there are no clinics listed visit the ALLIANCE Hockey website for dates and times of clinics in our surrounding area.
BLOMHA covers one half of the cost for coach stream certification. If you elect to volunteer as a Head Coach again the following season, you can apply to be reimbursed for the other half of the cost.
All Assistant Coaches must have the following certification, at a minimum, and provide valid and proper documentation to apply for an assistant coaching position.
Respect in Sport (Speak Out)certification
Current Vulnerable Sector Screening Police Clearance (VSSPC)
Must be at least 16 years of age
In addition for Rep A/MD assistant coaches: NCCP Level coaching certification or coach stream certificate.
All Assistant Coaches in the 4/5 Development Program must take the Respect in Sport (Speak Out) certification online and have a current Vulnerable Sector Screening Police Clearance (VSSPC).
While it is not required that an Assistant Coach have coach stream certification, you may want to take the course in the event that you decide to be a Head Coach in the future.

The primary responsibility of all our volunteers is ensuring the safety of the players, however, the Trainer especially must understand and practice effective risk management in order to prevent or minimize the risk of injuries. Every game or practice may present different situations and the Trainer must be prepared to react appropriately.
All Trainers must have, at a minimum, a current Vulnerable Sector Screening Police Clearance (VSSPC) and Respect in Sport (Speak Out) certification and an up-to-date Level Trainer certification. If your Trainer certification number begins with '11 ' it expires in August 2011 and you must re-certify before the season begins. Recert clinics as well as full trainers clinics are now available online.
Be familiar with BLOMHA's, ALLIANCE Hockey's and the Ontario Hockey Federation's Constitutions and By-Laws and Policies.
Check players' equipment and fill out requisite paperwork for submission to the office.
Maintain a current medical form/history on each team player.
Managing and reporting all on-ice injuries.
Familiarizing the team with the Emergency Action Plan (EAP) in the event of an injury.
Monitoring and handling of water bottles on the bench.
Maintaining an adequate first aid kit.
Attendance at any trainers' meetings.

For those that do not wish to take the course online, BLOMHA will hold one clinic at the office in October for Trainers. Visit the ALLIANCE Hockey website for dates and times of clinics in our surrounding area.

The primary purpose of a Team Manager is to provide administrative support to the Head Coach and other coaching staff. The team manager is part of the roster.
All Team Managers must have, at a minimum, a current Vulnerable Sector Screening Police Clearance (VSSPC) and Respect in Sport (Speak Out) certification.
Be familiar with BLOMHA's, ALLIANCE Hockey's and the Ontario Hockey Federation's Constitutions and By-Laws and Policies.
Discuss with Head Coach his/her philosophy for managing the team, how it fits with BLOMHA's policies and how best to relate this philosophy to the parents and players.
Assist Head Coach in obtaining and completing requisite team official, trainer and player information according to BLOMHA's timelines, i.e., police clearances, certification numbers, medical forms, equipment checklists, etc.
Soliciting other parents to be timekeepers or game sheet recorders.
Assisting with tournament entry requirements for the team.
Assisting with the collection and management of monies for various team activities and the submission of financial statements to BLOMHA.
Assist with the dissemination of any team information, i.e., schedule changes, drink lists, picture day, etc.

The Parent Rep shall act as liaison between the team parents and the coaching staff. The responsibilities are outlined on page 10 Article 5B(1)(2) of our Constitution and By-Laws. Every team is responsible for choosing a parent rep and advising the BLOMHA office of this person's name once the head coach has been advised. No accreditation is necessary for this non-bench role.
