About Our Program

Our House League program offers children the opportunity to play amateur hockey in a structured, but fun and safe environment, regardless of their abilities. Our volunteers are given extensive training through a variety of courses, and they all share the common goal of providing the children an atmosphere where good sportsmanship prevails above all else.

Our program consists of
12 Divisions:

  • Development Program (4-5 year olds)
  • Tyke (6 year olds)
  • Pre-Novice (7 year olds)
  • Novice (8 year olds)
  • Minor Atom (9 year olds)
  • Atom (10 year olds)
  • Minor PeeWee (11 year olds)
  • PeeWee (12 year olds)
  • Minor Bantam (13 year olds)
  • Bantam (14 year olds)
  • Minor Midget (15 year olds)
  • Midget (16, 17, 18 year olds)

All divisions are non-contact. Games consist of three (3) ten-minute stop time periods and will be curfewed when necessary during regular season play.

Goaltending in House League

Recognizing that the position of goaltender is unique and that the interest in playing this position must be nurtured, BLOMHA's policy is that all players on teams from Development through to Minor Atom be afforded the opportunity to play in net at least once prior to December. To facilitate this policy BLOMHA supplies teams with goalie pads, body armour, gloves and stick.

The success of this policy is evident in the growing number of goalies coming up through the older divisions. In Atom through to Midget players must commit to this position when registering.

Registration

Returning players are emailed a registration form prior to the end of May each year.

Registration forms for new and returning players are available at the BLOMHA office. Please go to the Registration page for details on fees and dates.
